Highlgihts
Changmen Gate: The outer gate of Changmen Gate was near to the suspension bridge. A rectangular enclosure for defense outside the gate kept another enclosure with a southern catalpa gate and a northern catalpa gate. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851-1864) period, the enclosure of Changmen Gate was destroyed and only the inner city gate and supporting gate remained. Nowadays, only the base of the water gate remains.
Pingmen Gate: Pingmen Gate is located in the north gate of Suzhou, it was rebuilt in 2012. Wuzixu flushed out the door from this gate, defeated the Qi, and return of the troops of the capital from the same gate, hence the name.
Xiangmen Gate: It was famous for a variety of hand craftsmen. It's called "Xiangmen Gate" because of the change of the sound. The door was stuffed in the early Song Dynasty. The Republic of China was restored in 23-25 years and was dismantled after liberation. Reconstruction in 2012.
Panmen Gate: This city gate is the most completely preserved part of the ruins of the ancient city of Suzhou. With water gates and land gates towering side by side, Panmen Gate looks very imposing. The gate tower of Panmen looks magnificent, with flying eaves and up-turning corners. Equipped with all kinds of facilities needed in ancient defensive battles, such as shooting holes, sluice gateways and lookout towers, the city gate seems to have brought the ancient city of Suzhou back to us.
Xumen Gate: It is a part of the remains of the ancient city wall. There has been a saying: "The golden Changmen Gate and the silvery Xumen Gate in Suzhou". As a shining pearl regarded by Suzhou people, Xumen Gate is in the great landscape that within a land of good harvest. It has become a tourist attraction in one of the great travel destinations in China, which is an important aid in the study of the history of Suzhou and also one of the most important historical and cultural relics remaining in the Suzhou Canglang district region.
