Your guide meets you in your Suzhou hotel lobby beside a Your Way Holiday sign and helps with bags before you step to the private car. With the driver handling the old-town lanes, you travel door to door and set your own pace through the day.

The Humble Administrators Garden is the largest and most celebrated classical garden in Suzhou, laid out in the early 1500s around a central lake and split into eastern, central and western sections. Winding paths, lotus ponds, pavilions and old trees frame each view like a painting. Your guide picks a route that beats the crowds, explains the design and symbolism, and finds the quiet corners worth stopping at.

Tiger Hill, long called the number-one sight in Suzhou, is a low wooded hill crowned by the Yunyan Pagoda, a leaning tower that has tilted for more than a thousand years. Below it lie the Sword Pool, tied to an ancient burial legend, and the red-walled court of Huqiu. The climb is short but stepped, and your guide paces it and fills in the stories as you go.

Lunch is left open on purpose rather than booked into a fixed tourist hall. Your guide takes you to a kitchen locals actually use and helps you order refined Suzhou dishes such as squirrel-shaped mandarin fish, sweet-and-sour spare ribs or braised pork belly. Vegetarian, halal and lighter orders are easy, and you pay only for what you eat.

Hanshan Temple, outside the old west gate, is known across East Asia from a Tang Dynasty poem by Zhang Ji about its bell ringing at midnight. The buildings are mainly Qing Dynasty, with a bell tower, red walls and a tiled roof mirrored in the Han River. Your guide explains the poem and the new-year bell custom without rushing you through the halls.

Shantang Street is a 1,200-year-old market street along a canal, lined with whitewashed houses, old shops, snack stalls and teahouses. It is an easy stroll and a good place to taste street food and pick up souvenirs. Your guide points out the lanes worth turning down and the best views of the waterway late in the day.

At the end of the day your driver returns you to your Suzhou hotel, or drops you wherever you like; tell your guide if you would rather stay on Shantang Street for the evening.
A full day, usually 6 to 8 hours door to door from your hotel, covering the main sights at a relaxed pace.
In your Suzhou hotel lobby, beside a Your Way Holiday sign. We can meet you at Suzhou train station instead if that suits your arrival better.
No, and that is deliberate. Your guide takes you to a local restaurant and helps you order, so you taste real Suzhou cooking and pay only for what you eat.
Fully private: just your party with your own guide and air-conditioned car. The order of sights and the pace can be adjusted to your interests.
No. Your guide handles ticket bookings and logistics on the day. The gardens and hill involve walking and some steps, so wear comfortable shoes.
Yes. Tell us in advance and we can work in Tongli or Zhouzhuang or swap a sight; small changes on the day are usually possible with a private car.
Add-ons let you shape the day around what you enjoy. Each is private and best arranged in advance.
Morning Tai Chi in a Suzhou Park
Join locals for a slow tai chi or qigong session in a riverside park before the city fully wakes. Your guide sets you up at the back of the group, and it is a calm, memorable way to start a day of gardens.

Exploring Old Lanes and Streets
Between the main sights your guide can slip into the quiet back lanes off Shiquan and Pingjiang Road, where residents still hang laundry over the canal and sell tea from doorway stalls. It is the Suzhou most day-trippers never see.

Traditional Suzhou Morning Tea
Sit down to a proper Suzhou tea with the locals, slow and unhurried. Your guide explains the teas and the etiquette, and it pairs well with an early start before the gardens fill up.

Bar and Cafe on Pingjiang Road or Shantang Street
End the evening on Pingjiang Road or Shantang Street, where old canal houses now hold small bars and cafes. Try a local craft beer or a cocktail and watch the lantern-lit waterway come alive after dark.

Staying in Suzhou already so we used the hotel pickup option. Driver arrived ten minutes early and the guide was already at the first garden when we got there. We swapped the afternoon tea stop for an extra hour at the panmen gate and they accommodated it easily. The silk embroidery demonstration was fascinating - bought a small piece as a souvenir. Felt like we saw the real Suzhou not just the tourist version.
"Your Way Holiday" delivered an outstanding experience! The guide's professionalism and in-depth knowledge of Suzhou’s history made the day unforgettable, and the hotel transfer service was smooth and efficient.
