Your day tour starts at the Lingering Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city's finest classical gardens. It has been listed as one of the four most famous national classic gardens together with the humble administrator's garden, the Summer Palace and Mountain Summer Resort in Chengde are called China's four largest gardens. Landscape architectural space processing is very exquisite, using a variety of artistic techniques, built a unique space system, becoming one of the world civilization examples of architectural space art processing. Next agenda is Panmen Gate. The history of the Panmen Gate dates back to 514 AD. Built by Wu State during the spring and autumn period, Panmen is the only ancient city wall still intact in Suzhou. Panmen Scenic Area was built on the base of some historic sites by using the architectural structure of classical gardens. It is famous for its numerous historic relics and abundant human landscapes. The scenery area centered on Panmen City Gate consists of many scenic spots. Amongst them, Ruiguang Pagoda, Panmen City Gate and Wumen Bridge are praised as 'three fine sceneries'.

After lunch, pay a visit to The Master of Nets Garden, which is the smallest of the Suzhou residential gardens, yet it is the most impressive because of its use of space which creates the illusion of an area that is much greater than its actual size. The garden is divided into three sections: a residential section, the central main garden and an inner garden. This 12th century gem (later refurbished in the 18th century) and UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts an impressive garden and nightly Kunqu opera performances, but it’s best known for its architectural splendor. The garden is especially fancied by overseas visitors and is praised as the most ornate and intact private gardens in Suzhou.
Next to Guanqian Street, is a pedestrianized shopping street in Suzhou. After one-century ups and downs, Guanqian Street has been becoming a commercial, cultural, religious and travel center with rich local color, sound traffic network, perfect infrastructure, rational overall commercial arrangement and excellent investment environment. Besides, the street has been honored as the one of the Four Most Famous Walking Streets in China (other three: Nanjing’s Fuzimiao, Shanghai’s Cheng Huang Miao and Beijing’s Tianqiao).
The last stop is Suzhou No. 1 Silk Mill has a long and rich history of silk culture, including mulberry tree and silk worm cultivation and turning raw silk into beautiful fabric. Suzhou's climate and soil are perfect for silk production, and the city has been a center of China's silk trade for many centuries. The Suzhou No. 1 Silk Mill has been a proud steward of this heritage for over 80 years. It's more like a museum which shows you how the silk is made from cocoons from the beginning and the whole silk process. Not to be missed.

We are a family of 4 with a 10 year old and a 82 year old elderly. We decided to get a private tour because we felt it was easier to manage in terms of time and places to visit. This was the best decision we made. Our tour guide, Demi was so patient with us. Demi is very knowledgeable and speaks fluent English.
Our day started with a pick up from Suzhou train station. We headed to Lingering Garden and we were away from the huge crowd which was great. We had so many beautiful photo oppotunities of the Chinese garden. We also went to Shantang ancient street and took a private boat cruise on the Grand Canal, Demi shared so many interesting facts about the beautiful structures built along the street. After that we proceeded to the Panmen Gate, our guide gave us some interesting information about the Suzhou culture and history. We also went to see the Silk factory, the lady explained a lot about the silk culture and the process, how the silk made into products. At the end of the tour, we visited a temple called Hanshan Temple. After the tour, we were sent back to Suzhou train station. And our wonday day trip in Suzhou ends.
We left Suzhou with fond memories and Demi was definitely a part of those wonderful memories. I would recommend this tour for any family who wants private tour as it gives you time to explore at your own pace. We booked the tour at short notice, and booked train tickets from Shanghai to Suzhou ourselves. Were met by Demi at the station. She is a delightful lady, who has studied in England. We were taken to one of the private gardens, a silk factory (with no pressure to buy), one of the ancient streets, and finally to a water village.
Demi was polite, courteous and knowledgeable. If you want to visit Suzhou, would recommend her and Suzhou Private Tour Team.
We are a family of and I thought we could tour Suzhou on our own. We arrived in Suzhou via bullet train from Shanghai before 8 am. We then took a taxi to Humble Administration Garden. By then, we realized that we will need to book pur own van and an English speaking guide. Demi arrived before 10 am and so did our driver. Demi took us to The Lingering Garden and Master of the Nets Garden. We also visited PingJiang street and listened to some local opera and Jinji Lake. We were so happy to book the transport and guide on the same day. It made all the difference in touring Suzhou. I dont think we would have survived because no one really understand and speaks english. They also dropped us off in Suzhou Train station at the wnd of our tour.
